Rheumatology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases or diseases affecting the muscles and/or joints. Rheumatologists treat patients with a wide range of diseases including rheumatoid, septic and osteo- arthritis, lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, gout, vasculitis, spondyloarthropathies and many others. Rheumatologists often use Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in the treatment of many rheumatological patients, helping them find alternative ways for common body movements, which would otherwise be restricted by their disease.
